Protecting Your Peace Is a Full-Time Job

Peace is not a personality trait. It is a decision you make several times a day.

Nobody warns you that peace is a discipline. We talk about it like it's a mood — something that descends on you if you're lucky. It isn't.

Peace is what remains after you have said no to the seventh thing that would have stolen it. Peace is boundaries. Peace is a filtered feed. Peace is a slow morning even when the world is loud. Peace is the friendship you don't answer as quickly as you used to. Peace is the family gathering you attend for one hour instead of five.

You will be misunderstood for choosing peace. People who benefited from your exhaustion will call your alignment "selfish." Let them.

Your peace is not a luxury item. It is your birthright. Protect it like the sanctuary it is.
