A soul tie is a spiritual, emotional, and energetic bond between two people. They form through intimacy — physical, emotional, spiritual — and they don't disappear the day the relationship ends. That is why a person can leave your life and still occupy your nervous system months, even years, later.
Soul ties are not inherently negative. Healthy ones exist between mothers and children, chosen family, mentors, deep friendships. The ones that need releasing are the ones that keep you looping — the ex you can't stop thinking about, the friend you outgrew, the parent whose voice still runs your inner critic.
Here is a gentle practice for release:
1. Name the tie. Say the person's name aloud and what the tie represents (validation, protection, familiarity, love). 2. Thank the connection for what it taught you. Even the hardest ones taught you something. 3. Speak the release: "I release you with love. I take back my energy. I give back yours. What is truly ours cannot be lost." 4. Do something physical — a bath, a walk, changing your bedsheets, moving your furniture. The body needs to feel the shift. 5. Repeat as needed. Release is a spiral, not a single event.
Cutting off in love is not cruelty. It is one of the most spiritual acts you can perform.
